Last year, LifeChurch.tv did a controversial series called “My Secret.” The series was all about confessing hidden sin and giving people a way to get a secret off of their chests. LifeChurch ultimately created www.mysecret.tvas a practical, first step tool used to confess a secret. It was controversial partly because some said online confession wasn’t “true biblical confession” and partly because of the graphic nature of some of the secrets. Whatever your take might be on the series or website, there’s no denying that confessing sin is biblical and dramatically important to living the life that Jesus wants us to live.

The Scriptures say that when we confess our sins to God, He forgives us (1 John 1) and when we confess to each other we are healed. (James 5:16) Most of us are good at the first part because, after all, confessing to God is private. But, few of us take the step and revel our sin to others … so we walk around forgiven, but not healed. It’s like walking with a spiritual limp. What’s so great about “confessional healing” is that it can heal a past hurt and prevent further injury.  There are times (very rare ;) ) when I wake up ticked off. Ever happen to you?  The best thing to do is to confess that to someone as soon as you can. The confession goes something like this: “hey, I woke up ticked at the world today. I need you to pray for me.” That limp just got better.

Dinosaur tippers confess and live freer lives. How about you?  Anything you need to confess?

  1. Mose Said,

Hey Kruck. Right there with you my man. Thanks for your confession. I woke up mad at the world recently and made everyone miserable who were around me (mostly the wife). Next time I’ll remember your confession and transparency….that’s one of the things I love about you, Dude. Peace to all you tippers today. Jesus’ birthday celebration is almost here!

  2. AD Said,

This NEVER happens to me, ever. I can’t relate to this at all. Nope, not me.

    …not today anyway!

  3. Withers Said,

Not sure any of you have realized an additional less selfish benefit from confessing to others. Here’s a little hint check out the expression on the face of the person you just confessed to.

more than likely you just made their day by placing trust in them with your confession.

The drop makes a big ripple, more than we will ever know!!!!

  4. Brian Kruckenberg Said,

Withers…great point about our confessions helping others…in that regard, is not confessing selfish? something to consider.

I really don’t think the issue in the post is selfishness.. I think the bigger enemy is pride and often we are too proud to tell others where we struggle. Confessing is good for our souls….and the souls of others.

    Thanks for the comments!
