I heard this simple little truth yesterday: “When you spend or manage someone else’s money you keep track of it.” Yep. I agree. I have a 401k (or as Perry Noble recently called it, a 201k!) and I get a quarterly statement that tells me what I’ve invested and how that money is doing. In my job, I’m accountable for every penny I spend that belongs to the organization. Everything I spend can be seen by someone else.

So, if we are followers of Christ and believe that all we have is His (read Psalm 50 if you wonder about this truth), then how come most of us don’t account to God for what we spend? We’d never expect to do that to anyone else but with God, it is okay to spend whatever we want on whatever we want without accounting for it? Doesn’t make sense to me. So, this week, I am going to track every penny I spend and account to God for it. Doesn’t mean I won’t spend anything this week, but I will write it down and account to God for it.

So, how about it? How would it look for us to write down every dime we spend this week (and beyond) and account to God for it? I think it could be eye-opening and powerful. Life-changing powerful.

So, dino tippers are you up to the challenge?

(btw, I have Andy Stanley to thank for the inspiration behind this post.)
